THE last event in the 2014/15 NSW Race schedule was held at the beautiful Monash Country Club. A good field of golfers enjoyed what was a pleasant day after the early showers. It was a pleasure to be hosted by such a wonderful and prestigious club like Monash.
There were several golfers on the day that enjoyed the layout, with a total of eight players breaking handicap. Taking out the overall win on the day with a score of 44 points was Michael Holmes from Cowra Golf Club who also captured the C-grade winner’s prize of the day. This catapulted Michael into third place on the overall NSW Order of Merit.
Second overall at 40 points on a count back was James Cook. Third overall and B-grade winner was Mike Christie also with 40 points. A-grade winner went to Ian Baker of Palm Beach, narrowly beating Andrew Dihm of NSW GC. To view full results from the day click here.
The par three 9A hosted the Golf Buddy Nearest to Pin and Mark Eagleston was victorious with a lovely shot that was 142cm from the hole. Mark took home the brand new Golf Buddy VS4 GPS device for his approach. In the Cobra Puma Go Looong Challenge on the 10th hole it was Todd Chapman who took out the long drive contest with his drive to 250m. In the ladies division at was Janette Lisle and Margaret Elliot shared the prize both hitting their drive of 180m.
After the 6 game series in 2014/15 NSW Race to Bonville, it was Chris Holmes from Leura Golf Club who narrowly won the NSW Order of Merit. David came home strongly with 38 points at the final event to just edge out Terry Stevens who led going into this last event. Chris is now the first player to qualify into Team NSW at the National Final at Bonville Golf Resort in May. You can view the full Order of Merit standings here.

Record fields and quality golf courses have ensured a successful series to date. We now look forward to the State Final to be played at Bonnie Doon Golf Club on Thursday March 26th, 2015. It will be there that the NSW State Team will take shape for the National Final to be played at the beautiful Bonville Golf Resort.
