WE’VE all seen crazy bounces in golf but Finland’s Miko Korhonen would be justified in feeling robbed in the final round of the South African Open.
Trying to fight back after a two-over front nine, Korhonen had redeemed one of the dropped shots at the 10th then laid up to a perfect yardage with his second at the par-five 13th.
He struck the shot exactly as he wanted and watched as it took one bounce before diving straight into the hole. And straight back out.
The unlucky bounce left Korhonen stunned back in the fairway while the commentators could barely believe what they had seen either.
While the eagle went begging, Korhonen easily tapped in for his birdie then made two more on his way to the clubhouse to sign for a two-under 70.
That was good enough for a 13-under total for the week and T7 result which was worth €22,457.
Still, you can’t help but feel he could, and should, have been one better.
