Fiji's National Day, which marks the island nation's independence from Britain, is a national holiday and a time of much celebration with festivities throughout the country.
Every town has its own day of events to celebrate the October 10 milestone, with many resorts also holding special events.
That might include a special Lovo, a traditional feast cooked in the earth.
There'll definitely be singing - you don't go anywhere in Fiji without hearing someone singing somewhere.
And, there'll be competitions.
Hotly, enthusiastically contested competitions.
Be it a tug of war, an egg-throwing race or a series of boat challenges on the river, as in Sigatoka.
Sigatoka is the main town a few kilometres from Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort on Fiji's main Viti Levu island.
When we were there for this year's National Day, the streets were a blaze of colour, people thronged everywhere, crowds loudly barracked for their side in the main street.
The riverbank was packed with locals cheering on their teams aboard traditional Fijian bamboo rafts known as bilibilis.
I'd defy anyone not to get caught in the excitement.
The Outrigger team's enthusiasm was infectious.
The team, made up of staff members from its Fiji Beach Resort and their compatriots from the relatively newly acquired Castaway resort, might not have won the tug of war, but they had strong boat crews - and an even stronger band of supporters.
They'd been runners up to their main rival and consistent National Day bilibili winners, the Shangri-la team, for many years.
So when they came second in the boat races, giving them the overall championship title, nothing could stop them bursting into victory song on the riverbank.
And the party went well into the morning.
